The short version: Gongful does not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Everything stays on your device.
Who we are
Gongful is a mindfulness app designed to bring moments of presence into your day. It is operated as an independent app available on the Apple App Store. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@gongful.life.
What data we collect
Gongful collects no personal data. Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any identifying information
- We do not track your location
- We do not use analytics or third-party tracking tools
- We do not store any data on our servers
All app data — your gong count, streak, and settings — is stored locally on your device and never leaves it.
Presence prompts
When the gong fires, Gongful may make an anonymous request to the Anthropic API to generate a fresh presence prompt. This request contains no personal information — only a short instruction to generate a mindfulness prompt. No identifying data about you or your device is included or stored.

In-app purchases
Gongful offers an optional one-time support purchase processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not handle or store any payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs all transactions: apple.com/legal/privacy
Purchase status (whether you've supported the app) is managed by RevenueCat, which processes this anonymously without access to your personal identity. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Notifications
Gongful uses local scheduled notifications to deliver gongs throughout your day. These are scheduled entirely on your device. No notification data is transmitted to or from any server.
Give a Gong
When you choose to Give a Gong to someone, Gongful generates a shareable link containing only the presence prompt text. No personal information about you or the recipient is included in or stored from this link. The recipient's interaction with the link is not tracked.
Children's privacy
Gongful is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
